Terms & Conditions

TheDirectory.ukis a members directory and introduction platform operated from the United Kingdom. In these terms, "we", "us" and "the site" mean TheDirectory.uk. "You" means the person using it.

General enquiries go to [email protected]. Anything about your account, a payment or another member goes to [email protected]. Anything about your personal data goes to [email protected].

We provide a platform on which adults create listings, find one another and communicate. We are not an agency, an employer, an escort service, a booking service or a party to anything you arrange with another member.

Any arrangement you reach with another member is between the two of you. We do not set it, take a fee from it, guarantee it, supervise it or insure it. We are not present when you meet and we cannot make anybody behave.

Members who advertise on the site do so as independent people or businesses. They are not our employees, workers, agents or contractors, and nothing on the site creates that relationship.

• You must be at least 18 years old. This is an absolute condition and there is no discretion in it.
• You must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract.
• You must not have been previously removed from the site, and you must not create a new account to get around a suspension.
• You must not use the site on behalf of anybody else, or let anybody else use your account.

The site contains adult material and is not suitable for children. We take steps to keep under 18s out, and we will close any account we believe belongs to a child and preserve what we need to for the authorities.

How we check age and identity is set out separately in Identity verification.

• Everything you tell us when you register must be true, and you must keep it up to date.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done through your account.
• Tell us at once, at [email protected], if you think somebody else has got into your account.
• You may close your account at any time from your dashboard. Closing it does not by itself delete every record we hold: see the privacy policy for what we keep and why.

You keep ownership of everything you upload. By uploading it you give us a non-exclusive, royalty free licence to store, reproduce, resize and display it for the purpose of running the site, and to keep copies for moderation, safety and legal records. That licence ends when the content is removed, except for copies we are required to retain.

You promise that, for everything you upload:

• It is yours to upload, or you have the permission of whoever owns it.
• It shows you, and where anybody else appears in it, every person shown is over 18 and has agreed to it being published here.
• It is current and not materially misleading about your appearance, age or who you are.
• It does not break the law, infringe anybody's rights, or breach our acceptable use rules.

Uploading an intimate image of another person without their consent is a criminal offence in the United Kingdom. So is any sexual image of a person under 18, in any circumstances. We report both to the police and preserve the evidence.

What we check and how long it takes is set out in Photo moderation.

Registering and listing are free. Paid tiers such as Platinum change where your listing appears and unlock additional features. They are bought with tokens, or, where we have switched it on, directly with a cryptocurrency payment as set out in clause 8. A 28 day or annual tier runs for that fixed number of days and does not renew automatically: when it lapses your listing stays, it simply loses the placement.

Lifetime Platinum. This is a one-off purchase, not a recurring tier -- it does not lapse after a fixed number of days the way a 28 day or annual tier does. "Lifetime" means for as long as your account remains open and in good standing on this site, the same standard every other paid benefit here is held to. It ends, like any other paid feature, if we close your account because you broke these terms (clause 7's own rule for tokens applies here too). It is tied to your account and cannot be sold, gifted or transferred to anyone else's. If we close the site entirely, we will give reasonable notice as set out in clause 7; because Lifetime Platinum is a feature entitlement rather than a stored balance, that notice does not carry a separate cash refund the way unspent tokens do.

A tier improves placement and features. It does not guarantee views, messages, bookings, income or any other outcome, and we do not promise that it will.

Paid visibility.Some features change how prominently your listing appears: a directory boost, a Sexting boost where that is switched on, a glow border for the day, extra outcall postcodes, an extra gallery slot, and unlimited perks for members on the Platinum tiers. Each one is bought with tokens, at the price shown before you confirm, and takes effect straight away. Because it takes effect at once, it cannot be cancelled or refunded once it has been applied. A boost puts your listing at the front at that moment. Other members' activity and boosts move it back down again without any notice, and a boost has no fixed length. A glow lasts until the end of the day, UK time, on which you buy it. None of these guarantees views, messages, bookings or income. If something you paid for did not take effect because of a fault on our side, tell us at [email protected] and we will put it right.

Tokens are prepaid credit for services on this site. One token costs 25 pence. They are used to buy tiers. Paid messaging and other features that would let one member pay another are not currently switched on; we will update this clause before that changes.

• A token has a real value of 25p and is bought, not earned. It is prepaid credit for this site, not electronic money, not a currency and not an investment. What you spend on a provider is theirs to withdraw; you cannot withdraw tokens yourself. Sparks are different: they are rewards with no monetary value.
• They cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another member, or sold.
• They do not expire while your account is open and in good standing.
• If we close your account because you broke these terms, any remaining tokens are lost.
• If we close the site, we will give reasonable notice and refund unused tokens at 25 pence each.

Payment is by cryptocurrency to the addresses shown at checkout. Your transaction is checked before your balance is credited, and how long that takes can vary -- it takes as long as it takes to check properly. We work to get most payments confirmed within minutes, but we will not promise a time we cannot guarantee.

Send only the token and network shown. A payment sent on the wrong chain, or without the destination tag or memo where one is required, is generally unrecoverable, by us or by anybody. Please check before you send.

The amount of cryptocurrency shown is calculated from the exchange rate at the moment you are quoted. Rates move. If what arrives is worth materially less than the price, we will credit what was actually received and tell you.

We may reverse a credit. If a top-up was credited in error, was not actually a payment made to us, or was the result of fraud or abuse of the top-up process, we may reverse it and adjust your balance accordingly. Where reasonably possible we will tell you before or as soon as we do this.

Your right to cancel. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance contract for digital content and get a refund, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. When you buy tokens you are asked to agree that we supply them immediately and to acknowledge that doing so ends that cancellation right. If you do not agree, we cannot supply the tokens straight away and you keep the full 14 days.

Tokens you have already spent cannot be refunded, except for an advert slot that is rejected at review or cancelled before it starts (see clause 9), or a Sexting message nobody replies to (below). Tokens bought but not spent will be refunded on request within 14 days where you did not waive the right above. Refunds are made in the same cryptocurrency to an address you give us, at the exchange rate on the day we send it.

Added 29 September 2026: unanswered Sexting messages. If a Sexting message you paid for gets no reply within 24 hours, we refund it automatically -- the token goes back to your purchased balance and the seller's earning for that message is cancelled, because a seller earns for replying, not for being messaged. This applies only to Sexting messages, is checked for up to 7 days after you send one, and is never applied once a payout including that earning has already been requested.

Paying for a tier directly, without tokens. Where we have switched this on, you can pay a quoted amount of cryptocurrency straight for a tier instead of buying tokens first. This works differently from a token top-up: your payment is reviewed by us before the tier is granted, not the moment it arrives, and how long that takes can vary -- it takes as long as it takes to check properly.

Because a tier bought this way is not supplied to you immediately, you do not lose your fourteen day cancellation right by paying: you can ask us to cancel and refund any claim that has not yet been approved. If we cannot verify your payment, or your claim is rejected for any other reason, contact us with an address to send it back to and we will refund what we received, at the exchange rate on the day we send it -- the same approach as any other cryptocurrency refund on this site.

Sparks we give you. Some rewards reach your balance without you paying for them: a registration bonus, a daily sign-in reward, a referral reward, a profile-completion reward, or a promotion. We call these Sparks. They are not tokens, and different rules apply to them:

• They carry no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, sold or converted for cash by you or by us. Sparks can never be converted into Tokens. We may withdraw or change any Spark reward at any time.
• They can only be spent on services provided by the platform itself, such as a membership tier upgrade, a directory boost, an advert slot or a priority review. They cannot be spent on anything that pays another member, such as a message, a gallery unlock, a gift or a paid call.
• We may reverse, withhold or remove Sparks, tokens or earnings obtained through connected accounts, fraud, or abuse of any registration, referral or promotional scheme.

None of this affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if something we supply is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose.

Paid messaging, and the per-message fee this clause would otherwise describe, are not currently switched on. No advertiser currently earns a message fee through the site. If we switch this on, we will tell advertisers before it starts, and this clause will describe exactly how it works at that time.

Advert slots. You can buy a place for an advert in the positions we offer, for a run of 1 to 28 days that you choose, paid in tokens. You see the price for your dates before you pay, and we hold those dates for you for 30 minutes while you decide. When you confirm, we check the price and that the dates are still free. If either has changed we take nothing and tell you.

• An advert must meet our advert guidelines. Members on a Platinum tier, Lifetime Platinum members, Founder members and anyone who has had an advert approved by us before can start on their chosen dates straight away, and we may check the advert afterwards. Every other advert is reviewed by a person before it runs.
• If we reject an advert at review, or you cancel it before it starts, you are refunded in full, and the tokens go back to where they came from. Once an advert is running it cannot be cancelled.
• The current advertiser has first refusal on renewing. Anyone else can book the days straight after a run only once it has 24 hours or less left.
• Adverts never renew by themselves, and we never charge you again without you confirming. We send one reminder email shortly before a running advert ends.
• An advert improves visibility. It does not guarantee views, clicks, messages, bookings or income.

Priority review. Your profile goes live without waiting for us to review your application. If you want a person to review it sooner, you can pay 25 tokens once your application is complete, which moves it to the front of the queue. The checks are exactly the same and so is the standard applied to them, and it does not make approval more likely. Without priority we aim to answer within 48 hours. The fee pays for the review, not for the outcome, so it is not returned if your application is declined. It is refused until everything we ask for is in place, so you can never pay to skip a step.

Full rules are in acceptable use. In short: no harassment, no threats, no impersonation, no discrimination, no scraping, no automated access, no attempt to break the site or get at other people's data, and nothing illegal.

You must not use this site in connection with the exploitation, coercion or trafficking of any person. If you are being controlled or coerced by somebody else, contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700 or the police on 999.

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account or close one where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, where the law requires it, or where somebody is at risk. Where it is appropriate and lawful to do so we will tell you why and how to challenge it.

Where we act on a report, both the reporter and the member reported can ask us to look again. We will not tell the member who reported them.

We check what we say we check, and no more. We do not run criminal record checks, we do not verify what anybody says about themselves beyond the identity checks described separately, and a verified badge means the identity check passed, not that a person is safe or honest.

• We do not promise the site will be uninterrupted or error free.
• We do not promise you will meet anybody, earn anything, or get a reply.
• We do not endorse any member, listing, review or rating.
• Reviews and ratings are written by members. We publish them; we do not verify them.

Meeting somebody you found online carries risk. Meet somewhere public the first time, tell somebody where you are going, and make your own way there and back.

We are not responsible for what happens when members meet away from the site. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

• death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
• fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
• any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable, and we are not responsible for the acts or omissions of other members.

Where you use the site for any business purpose, we are not liable to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims arising in any twelve month period is limited to the greater of £100 or the total amount you paid us in that period.

If you use the site in breach of these terms and that causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to reimburse us for the reasonable costs and damages that result. This does not apply to anything we caused ourselves.

We are not liable for failing to perform where the cause is outside our reasonable control, including network failure, a failure of a payment network or blockchain, or an act of a public authority. We will tell you and do what we reasonably can to limit the effect.

We may change these terms. Where a change materially affects your rights we will give at least 14 days' notice by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the change. If you do not accept it you may close your account and ask for a refund of any unspent tokens.

Please tell us first, at [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge within two working days and resolve within 30 days. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution provider, and you can complain to the relevant regulator. Complaints about how we handle personal data can go to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

• If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
• If we do not enforce a term straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
• You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anybody else. We may transfer ours if the site changes hands, and we will tell you if that happens.
• Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring them in your own courts.
