Things to Do in Halifax
Halifax has one of the finest Georgian buildings in the north, a hall made famous on television and the Pennine hills on its doorstep. Here is how to spend a day.
The Piece Hall
The Piece Hall, built in the eighteenth century for trading woollen cloth, is a vast open courtyard ringed by colonnades. Restored and reopened in 2017, it now has independent shops, cafes and a full programme of events.

Shibden Hall and park
Shibden Hall, east of the town, was the home of the diarist Anne Lister, whose life was told in the television series Gentleman Jack. The hall is a museum, and the park around it has a lake and woodland walks.
