What verification actually means here
Every photograph is separately reviewed by a person before it goes live. Identity verification is a separate, optional step that earns the Verified tick, so look for the tick, and use block and report on anyone who gives you a reason to.

Good places for a first meeting
Museum Gardens, beside the River Ouse in the city centre, suits a daytime meeting. The Shambles and the lanes around York Minster are full of cafes and restaurants. King's Staith, on the riverside below Ouse Bridge, is a relaxed spot for an evening drink.

How it works, in practice
Joining is free and takes a few minutes. Your listing goes live straight away with a template photo, and your own photographs show once a person has looked at them. You can browse and message other members in York or further afield, and our guides for Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle cover the nearest larger cities. Platinum members appear first in York's results the same as everywhere else on the platform.

Frequently asked questions
Creating an account and listing is free. Standard membership lets you browse and message members in York. Platinum membership adds priority placement in results and the option to share a phone number on your profile.
Members can verify their identity with a photograph of a government-issued document, reviewed by a person on our team rather than by software, and earn a Verified tick. It is optional. Separately, and without exception, every photograph uploaded to a profile is looked at by a person before it is shown.
Members set their own location, and you can search and filter by area within North Yorkshire, including Harrogate and Leeds. Distance shown on a profile is approximate, never an exact address, for everyone's privacy.
Your public profile can be viewed by anyone visiting the site. That is deliberate, and it is how people find you. It is not shown to search engines unless you choose to make it visible. Your public photographs are checked before they appear and can never show nudity or a sexual act. Your private gallery is separate: it stays locked behind the age check, and only members you allow can open it. You control what you share in a conversation, and you can block or report anyone at any time.
